• Many like to assume the rebuilding of the third Temple in Jerusalem is one of the signs of the End Times.  As indicated in Daniel 9:27, it is said to be desecrated by “a prince” thought to be the “Man of Perdition” or “the Antichrist” as were the previous two Temples.  As of today, the rebuilding of the Temple has not become apparent.

The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem is believed by the Jews to be all that is left of King Solomon’s Temple that was built in approximately the 10th century BCE and destroyed by the Babylonians in 587 BCE.  It was later rebuilt by King Nebuchadnezzar after he was converted by the Prophet Daniel.  It is believed the Prophet Daniel (See Ch 9) spoke of Antiochus Epiphanes IV as the Antichrist who desecrated, but did not destroy, the Temple somewhere between 175BC and 164BC.  The Temple was later destroyed a second time by the Romans who completely demolished the Temple brick by brick in 70AD.  As foretold by Jesus on Mt Olivet (Mathew 24) before He was “cut off” (Daniel 9:26) in His Passion.  Many hope for the rebuilding of a third Temple to herald the coming of the Jewish Messiah or the “Second Coming” of Christ as the case maybe.

Note that the repeated destruction of the Temple did not stop the Jews from being Jewish.  Faith is more than bricks and mortar.  It exists in the temple of people’s hearts and minds.  It just depends on what you worship.

Nonetheless: ”The Temple Mount in Jerusalem remains one of the most contested pieces of real estate in the world. It is revered as the site of both Solomon’s Temple and the Second Temple, which were integral to Israel’s worship. Following the destruction of the Second Temple in AD 70, the Jewish people were left without a central place of worship. However, biblical prophecy anticipates the construction of a Third Temple. The apostle Paul refers to this temple when describing the “man of lawlessness” who will desecrate it (see 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).” https://learn.openchristian.education/blog/sangwa/third-temple-s-construction-and-priestly-restoration

Given the Book of Daniel is also part of the Hebrew Bible or Torah; the Jews are well aware of this prophecy and its implications for a Third Temple.  However, it is very likely they will nonetheless press ahead with the construction of a new Third Temple as they await their promised messiah.

In 2 Thessalonians (2:3-4) St Paul describes the Man of Lawlessness (the Antichrist) as seating himself in the “Temple of God”.  This also presupposes that the Temple has to be “rebuilt” so that the Antichrist can “seat” himself in it.  However, another interpretation of scripture is possible.  I believe that the “Temple” referred to in these Biblical phrases is The Body of Christ (the Church).  We the faithful, are meant to be “Temples of the Holy Spirit”.  “God’s Sanctuary” is meant to be in our hearts and minds.  The Temple therefore already exists in the faithful of the Body of Christ.

The “Man of Perdition” or the Antichrist, cannot appear until there is the Great Apostasy, which we have seen for some decades (e.g. how many Catholics still practice their faith?).  The only way the Antichrist can install himself and exalt himself above God; is by inserting himself in the hearts and minds of those who believe him and those from The Church who have fallen away from the true faith, or that he is able to persuade.  He will go to great lengths to destroy the Catholic Church and persecute the faithful or those who refuse to pay him homage.  This will be the Great Tribulation, also predicted in Daniel Ch9.  We may hear rumblings of this before the end of the decade and in some places appears to have already begun.

From the Book of Daniel:  ”He (the Antichrist) will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering (the Eucharist). And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.” – (Daniel 9:27)

More about this in later posts.

May Jesus and Mary be loved by all hearts

  • First of all, this Blog is dedicated to the Holy Face of Jesus Christ; THE greatest Sign of all time.  To Him be the glory.  “Convert us O Lord, show us thy Face and we shall be saved” (Psalm 80:3).

This is the first post for this End Times Blog which was encouraged by others around me.  I make no claims about being a Prophet, but like many, I have had an interest in Catholic Prophecy and Eschatology for some time.  Others encouraged me to share this knowledge.  I began this blog as a way of explaining to others what I have read.  I will try to correlate it with Sacred Scripture which is what we are supposed to trust.  My purpose is to share what I know and accept that I may not always be correct.  I am tertiary educated and had a long professional life helping others with the tribulations of life.  Hopefully what I share will help others in their faith journey and to make sense of the confusion that characterises these End Times.  Remember, there is only one person you need to have complete faith in and that is Jesus Christ.

There is a mountain of “stuff” on the internet.  Most of it is worthless, clearly false, likely of diabolical origin and designed as “click bait” to earn money for the sponsor from advertising.  Do a search of Youtube on the “End Times” and you will get a plethora of wanna-be prophets, trying to make money out of sensationalism.  Jesus warned us this would happen.  I have no desire to become another one and seek no income from advertising.  What I give is given freely.  There will be no place for comments as I simply do not have the time to respond, or go chasing down rabbit holes.  I encourage the reader to do their own research.  Read the Bible and meditate on it.

Catholic history is replete with prophecy from the Saints and Seers of the Church over the last 2000 years.  I find most are completely ignorant of it. Yet God continues to reveal Himself to us.  Catholic History began with Jesus Christ Himself.  A fine example of prophecy in the Church is His discourse on Mt Olivet about the destruction of the then Temple in Jerusalem (Mathew 24).  Jesus’ Prophecy was as relevant then as it is today, even though the Temple was later destroyed by the Romans.  Just as Jesus is “The Word of God”; alive and active; Sacred Scripture therefore has a timeless element to it. By way of example: as Christ had to go through His Passion and climb Calvary so too will the Body of Christ (The Church).  However, Christ also told us that He has overcome the world and that satan will not prevail.  So Church history will continue.

This brings us to the Tribulation and the End Times (not the end of time) the beginnings of which have been going on for some time.  In one sense we have been in the “End Times” since the Incarnation and satan was subsequently forced to witness his own defeat at the Crucifixion.  However, Scriptures must be fulfilled and will continue to be so until the end of time (Mathew 24:35).  And only the Father knows when that will be (Mathew 24:36).  The fact that Scripture exists indicates to us that time will go on.  Much has yet to be revealed and fulfilled.  I believe you and I are but passing instruments and witnesses to the unfolding of the Will of God in time.  Hopefully we can bring a few others along with us.

Apart from the above, I intend to blog about such topics as Eschatology, the Catholic Church, Our Holy Mother Mary and her role in salvation history, past, present and future.  Like it or not Mary is a key figure in the work of Redemption.  Underlining all of this is Jesus Christ.  No doubt, some may be keen to read about the Antichrist that is mentioned in the Bible, and when we can expect him to appear.  I believe that is not far away.  Yet in another sense, which Antichrist do you want to hear about: Antiochus Epiphanes IV, Nero, Napoleon, Adolf Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot or one of the other numerous and murderous figures that have appeared throughout history?  The tribulation and destruction of humanity is the same and history keeps repeating itself.  That is why the “book of Prophecy”, the Bible is still relevant.  I will mention various figures and events as the need arises.  I would also like to blog about the various “signs of the times” that only those who choose not to see will miss.

For me, Eschatology is a study in Hope.  It culminates in the salvation and redemption of humanity with our God.  This Blog is unashamedly Catholic and I make no apologies for that.

May Jesus and Mary be loved by all hearts.
